Is a Nonprofit Career Right for YOU?

Take some time to look at your skills and experience and see where they may fit into the needs of a nonprofit organization. You will be much successful finding a job that is right for you then just approaching an organization and saying you would work anywhere. You should be able to show the organization that you are the right person for the job and that you have worked hard to research the organization and consider your skills.

If you feel like your skills do not match the job descriptions directly, do not fret. Nonprofit organizations do not only look for people with nonprofit experience. They also need people to take care of finances, administration, human resources, website management, outreach, and leadership. Think about projects you have worked on and how their outcomes could have prepared you for what you may do in the nonprofit world.

Above all, assess what is right for you and think about where you want to invest your time and energy. There are lots of options in the nonprofit field in terms of causes and positions. Think clearly about where you would fit in best and After all, we spend most of our waking hours at work so make sure it will be a cause you enjoy working for.
